The Down And Dirty Of Stewardship

The Implementation Series is made up of two modules: Part One – The Stewardship Plan; and Part Two – The Recognition Plan.

Participants who complete this portion of Steward Development will have the infrastructure for putting their plans into action. They will identify the specific action steps necessary to bring about positive change in their community. They will have a strategy in place for planting, caring for and eventually reaping the seeds of stewardship that they have sown.

Part 1: The Stewardship Plan

This section of the work session helps participants evaluate existing community efforts and consider how their community could identify and support new efforts in alignment with “destiny drivers” – shared visions of characteristics, events and industries that will bring prosperity to the community itself. Participants will learn about the importance of communication, attitude, and common ways people resist change.

There are tough questions asked during this phase of Steward Development:

  • Are current and/or new projects consistent with the destiny?
  • Are the leaders of the effort willing to act as stewards?
  • Are there community champions ready to work on it?

The answers to these questions provide clear directives for a plan that includes specific strategies and objectives. This portion of Steward Development is where all of the preparation for leadership and stewardship pays off. The result is a Destiny Map, wherein ideas are prepared to become real plans and clear goals – recorded, agreed upon and initiated in the next phase of the course.

Part 2: The Recognition Plan

The second half of this session deals with the transfer of leadership to the community. Individuals will be asked to identify activities or projects in their Community Stewardship Plans where they can apply leadership or stewardship techniques gained in previous courses. An individual follow-up plan to check on progress will also be developed and a Steward Liaison will be assigned to work with each participant.

Specific topics include:

  • Teamwork: Creating Buy-In
  • Communication & Values
  • Leadership / Stewardship Techniques

The Hard Work Begins, The Seeds Begin To Grow

Upon completion of the Implementation Series, participants will be able to:

  • Identify strategies to “coach” rather than “lead”
  • Identify opportunities to reinforce destiny alignment with projects

This is where the work of positive change begins in earnest. With the information, energy and strategy that result from this portion of Steward Development, growth finally takes root in the real world.
